ABOUT SPENCER

Partner

Spencer J. Brooks is a Partner at Brown Carrington, PLLC. His practice centers on family law, including divorce, child custody, child abuse and neglect, paternity, adoption, domestic violence, and child support matters. He joined the firm after spending five-and-a-half years practicing family law at Goldberg Simpson, LLC, the latter three of which were spent as a partner representing clients in complex litigation and appellate matters. His work at Goldberg Simpson earned him a place on the 2024 & 2025 Kentucky Rising Stars List published by Thompson Reuters, a distinction for excellence in practice earned by only 5% of attorneys in Kentucky. Prior to that, he spent six years as a staff attorney to two different Family Court Judges in Jefferson County Family Court. That experience as the right-hand man to two different judges has given him an insider’s understanding of the judicial decision-making process.

Mr. Brooks has lived in southern Indiana since 2004, shortly after he graduated from Indiana University – Bloomington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. In 2010, he decided to pursue his life-long dream of becoming an attorney. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 2013. While in law school Mr. Brooks was the recipient of a fellowship in administrative law and his work as Senior Notes Editor on the University of Louisville Law Review won an award from the National Conference of Law Reviews.

Mr. Brooks is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, as well as the Family Law section of the Louisville Bar Association.
