Bringing compassion, perspective, and purpose to every family law matter

Career Success

Meg Ryan is from Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she grew up in a military family; both her parents served in the United States Navy. Later, she moved to Memphis, Tennessee, and attended the University of Memphis, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies in Political Science and History.

Before pursuing a legal career, she taught for six years. She began her teaching career in Japan, right outside of Tokyo, where she lived for two years. Thereafter, she taught elementary school in Memphis, Tennessee. After her teaching career, she relocated to Louisville, Kentucky, to attend law school at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law.

During law school, Meg served on the editorial board as Notes Editor for the University of Louisville Law Review and as President of the International Law Society. She realized early in her law school journey that her passion was family law. She gained client advocacy experience as a student attorney in the University of Louisville Ackerson Law Clinic, where she represented clients in domestic violence matters. Meg graduated cum laude and received recognition for outstanding performance in two courses: Comparative Law and International Law. After graduating, she was admitted to the Kentucky Bar Association and is a Member of the Louisville Bar Association.

Meg has always been passionate about children’s rights, and she was a selected speaker at the American Society of International Law’s Mid-Year Meeting in 2025 to discuss her research on child welfare ona global scale. Additionally, she co-authored an article examining international accountability in child welfare, which was selected for publication in the Case Western Reserve Journal of International Law in May 2026.

In her free time, Meg enjoys spending time with her husband and her two dogs, taking a Pilates or Barre class, and finding her next treasure at a local thrift or antique store. She is always planning her next trip, whether abroad or domestically, and has traveled to three continents, seven countries, and 28 states in the U.S.
